CMM Technician Lead
Great Plains Manufacturing is seeking an experienced CMM Tech Lead to join our team at the Construction Equipment facility in Salina to test and inspect products at various stages of production process and compile and evaluate statistical data to determine and maintain quality and reliability of products as set forth by Engineering, Marketing and Service expectations.
The CMM Tech Lead is also responsible for coordinating and supervising the work of others in the department.
This position works Monday through Thursday from 6:00 a.
m.
to 4:30 p.
m.
, with overtime on Fridays as required.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensure that employees are performing job duties properly, safely, and efficiently in accordance with good shop practices and operating techniques
Understand and administer company policies and procedures to ensure consistency with company direction
Schedule workload for day/week for self and others
Coordinate with all facilities to schedule measurements by request
Test parts or products at specified stages in production process, and test products for variety of qualities such as dimensions, performance, and mechanical, electrical, or chemical characteristics.
Coordinate maintenance schedule, shipping of equipment, purchases of equipment, and training for new hires and when new arms are received
Record test data, applying statistical quality control procedures.
Evaluate data and writes reports to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards.
Recommend modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability.
Set up and performs destructive and nondestructive tests on materials, parts, or products to measure performance, life, or material characteristics.
Prepare graphs or charts of data or enters data into computer for analysis.
Notify supervisor when sampling indicates progressive deterioration in product quality, in order that corrections can be made in machine setup or operating procedure to forestall production of unacceptable work.
Verify accuracy of production gauges against master gauges.
Compute percentages, ratios, and proportions of product-quality deviations in order to prepare reports and analyses.
Follow all Great Plains policies and OSHA safety regulations and wears prescribed safety and protective equipment.
Other duties may be assigned that require other qualifications, physical demands, and/or work environment.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in programming and operating CMM.
Working knowledge of CREO, Windchill and Polyworks software
Understanding of all GD&T callouts on prints
Working familiarity with weld fixtures, robots and mechanical skills
Previous leadership experience preferred
Strong understanding of welding and metal working; ability to provide feedback on part design, weld and quality fixture design, modeling
Must possess a valid driver’s license
Must maintain a clean driving record with all company vehicles
