Recreational Gymnastics Coach

POSITION SUMMARY Under the supervision of the Gymnastics Coordinator, the Recreation Gymnastics Coach is responsible for the safe instruction of the gymnastics program.
The Gymnastics Coach will provide a quality experience to children and parents that focuses on the YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Stress the importance of safety to students.
Sets an example by exhibiting discipline and safe conduct while teaching.
Presents a personal disposition and communicates well with gymnasts and their parents.
Demonstrate to class members whenever possible.
Responsible for leading warm-ups and cool downs for each gymnastic class.
Responsible for putting away all equipment after use.
Responsible for cleaning gymnastics’ area as requested.
Responsible for filling out accident/incident reports as necessary.
Attend trainings as requested.
Responsible for lesson plans.
Make recommendations for students to be promoted to another class.
Provide exceptional customer service by greeting all participants, maintaining a clean and safe facility and demonstrating professional conduct at all times.
Responds to challenges with possible solutions in a timely manner.
All other duties as requested.
QUALIFICATIONS Must have an understanding of the sport of gymnastics and have gymnastic experience and be knowledgeable about spotting techniques.
Experience building relationships with children, staff, volunteers, and parents Strong public relations, organizational and interpersonal skills.
Strong desire to work with children.
The ability to work and resolve conflict situations.
Certifications: CPR/FA, within 30 days of hire WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS Must regularly lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds, and occasionally move up to seventy-five (75) pounds in the form of supplies or equipment.
Able to sit, stand and bend to perform appropriate tasks.
Must be able to move at an appropriate pace to respond to emergencies.
Follow all safety requirements of the Salina Family YMCA.
May be required to stand for extended periods of time.
Work in different temperature environments.
