Provides clients and citizens with childcare orientation and educational information regarding the Child Care Licensing (CCL) program.
Conducts Child Care Licensing (CCL) inspections for the purpose of investigating complaints, conducting compliance inspections, providing consultation for a proposed facility and to complete annual and initial licensing inspections.
All inspections are conducted in accordance with the KDHE CCL and Saline County policy and procedure manuals.
Coordinates and assembles educational resources for clients and the public in CCL.
Submits accumulated resources to Coordinator for review.
Provides education and consultation to clients and community regarding CCL regulations and best early childhood practices.
Ability to navigate the Court, Police and DCF systems and to work cooperatively with said agencies.
Documents all CCL inspections on activity log.
Completes data entry and maintains accuracy of the CCL database.
Receives client payments, enters receipts into database and forwards payments to the Billing Clerk.
Manages and maintains social media platforms with professional and appropriate content for the childcare licensing program.
Attends the County Social Media team meetings with the County Public Information Officer.
Actively develops creative programs to recruit and retain childcare professionals and increase childcare facility numbers.
Minimum Qualifications 1.
Must be a graduate of accredited two (2) year college with degree in early childhood, child development, elementary education, public health or related field.
A Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) may be substituted for the degree.
2.
Prefer two (2) years experience in the early childhood field or working with children and families.
3.
Must have a valid Driver’s License and must provide own reliable transportation.
4.
Must demonstrate professional written and oral communication skills.
5.
An ability to maintain a professional demeanor.
6.
Must have basic knowledge of Excel, word and other PC software and all social media platforms.
7.
Must be flexible and have the ability to adapt to varying tasks.
Physical Requirements Determined Work Level: Level 2 - Light Work Ability to communicate by means of the spoken word.
Ability to hear.
Must have fine and gross motor ability.
Must be able to operate computer, telephone and automobile.
Will require walking, standing, bending, balancing, sitting, climbing stairs or ladders, walking over rough terrain, lifting equipment and stooping.
May have to lift, push, carry or pull up to 20 pounds.
Possible exposure to infectious pathogens, blood, body fluids and hazardous waste.
May be exposed to a variety of work environments including outside of Health Department buildings in all weather conditions.
May be subject to highly volatile and stressful situations involving clients including child abuse and criminal investigations.
May be required to provide occasional weekend and/or evening work.
